Human Trafficking. No one is safe.

Human Trafficking is modern day slavery. It affects the whole world, tying with arms dealing as the second largest criminal industry in the world, and it is rampant even in countries said to have abolished slavery, such as America, Australia, Canada and England. Annually, 700,000 to 2 million victims are trafficked across national borders every year, not mentioning the millions trafficked within their own country.

In America, the CIA estimates there are at least 14500 to 17000 victims trafficked each year, not counting the victims who were already here and the ones who are trafficked out of the United States, leaving thousands, possibly millions of lives shattered. There is no way to properly count how many victims there are of this horrible crime, because new ones are being added all the time and the crime is the fastest growing criminal act in the world.

It is not difficult to find victims or see proof of this issue, especially in Arizona and other states close to the border where illegal immigration is high. The sad truth is, with the rise of illegal immigration the number of trafficking victims goes up as many criminals cross the border along with those trying for a better life. These criminals trick, manipulate, force and steal men, women and children into servitude. No one is safe, no matter the age or gender, from being a slave. They have found boys and girls being forced into prostitution from as young as four years old here in America, with 77% of trafficked sex industry workers being minors as they are often free of STD’s and can be easier to control and capture. The danger to the children is vast. Their young bodies can be broken and stretched in ways they physically and mentally cannot handle, often being unable to every fully recover from the even. Beyond that, in some parts of the world, they believe you can cure HIV and AIDs by having sex with a child, which in all honestly does nothing more than spread the disease to the child, who then is forced to spread it to whoever rapes them next. Sexual preference is disregarded once a victim becomes a slave. They can be gay and forced into relations with women, or they can be lesbian and forced into sexual acts with men. This is quite common as many victims are runaways because of their sexual preference… they can be easy targets for monsters.

There are a number of ways traffickers obtain victims.

  1. They prey on those who are runaways and need money, food and other necessities by promising them such things and then refusing to let them leave.
  2. They tell their victims that they owe them and must work to pay it off.
  3. They prowl around malls and go over to unsuspecting people, usually teens and pre-teens but often college students. They tell them they work for a modeling or acting agency, and they have cards and numbers the victim can call to “prove” it”. All too often, the victims are tricked into believing this. They will have photo shoots paid for by the traffickers, meetings and get to the point where it all just seems to real to doubt. Then, they will go somewhere without their parents, or will have kept this from their parents from the beginning, and the traffickers will rape them (regardless of gender as traffickers are not only both male and female, but on occasion they are homosexual or their clients might be. More often than not, they will find the victims sexual preference and go against it as a means to further torture the victim. It is easier to control a straight male who has been raped by another male because quite often it is something they never thought could happen. It is easier to break a gay male by having him raped by a female because they can portray it as being right in society, and that even if they escape, the world won’t treat them any differently than the traffickers do, and might even praise the traffickers for “try to fix” a “defective” male. With females, if the female is lesbian, the same applies as with a gay male. If they are straight, then they no longer will be able to see women as being completely on their side and will see them as enemies, too.)
  4. They convince the victim that they are their friends (or boyfriend/girlfriend) and then kidnap and rape them or convince them to “work” so they can have a better life.
  5. They will be romantically involved with the victim, run away with them, and then have the victim start selling themselves so they can afford things.
  6. They will tell the victim that they must come with them and they must serve, or they will return for a younger relative or kill their parents.
  7. They will be a relative of the victim and decide they are worth more as a slave than as a person.
  8. They will abduct people right off the street, from their houses, schools, friends houses and just about anywhere else.

So who can become a slave?
